Tripura Cong leader Sudip Roy Barman criticise PM Modi over ‘unfulfilled’ promises

Roy Barman stated that these unmet promises not only signify a failure of governance but also reflect a broader pattern of governmental ineptitude.

Tripura Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his ‘unfulfilled’ promises.

During a political event held in Khowai town to support INDI-Alliance candidate Rajendra Reang, who is contesting for the East Tripura parliamentary constituency, Sudip Roy Barman pointed out several ‘unfulfilled’ promises that Modi had made during his election campaign.

During his address, Roy Barman highlighted the failure of the Modi government to deliver on key commitments, including the ambitious promise to double farmers’ income, retrieve black money stashed abroad, and deposit Rs 15 lakh into every Indian’s bank account.

He stated that these unmet promises not only signify a failure of governance but also reflect a broader pattern of governmental ineptitude.

Speaking about the issue of reservation policies, Barman suggested a thorough caste census was necessary in order to modify the parameters of the current reservations.

He stated that the cast census needed to reconsider the 50 percent reservation cap and sought confirmation from the Supreme Court, which he considered an essential step toward guaranteeing fair representation.

Roy Barman drew attention to Modi’s blatant silence on issues of grave concern, notably the plight of women in Manipur.

Lamenting the seeming diversionary techniques used by the government to divert attention from real issues, he questioned the Prime Minister’s priorities and commitment to addressing the nation’s pressing socio-economic challenges.

He also accused the BJP of exerting undue influence over key institutions such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Election Commission of India (ECI), characterising them as mere puppets serving the ruling party’s agenda.

Further intensifying his criticism, Barman highlighted the government’s failure to address pressing issues, such as escalating inflation and the soaring prices of essential commodities, including gas, petrol, diesel, and medicines.

He termed the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and demonetization as costly new taxes that worsened the condition of the common people, and he blamed these misguided policies for the current economic woes.
