The students of the National Institute of Technology, Sikkim staged a protest demanding basic facilities.

The students are devoid of a permanent campus unlike their counterparts in other states of the country.

It is worth mentioning that NIT Sikkim has been functioning from a temporary site at Rabongla in South District.

As such, the students are staging a peaceful protest demanding a permanent campus and facilities befitting a premier engineering institution.

The students are of the opinion that their efforts to highlight their problems to the state as well as the state government are given a deaf ear.

They had written to the Union Ministry of Human Resource and Development and other government officials but hasn’t got a single reply.

The new academic session has been affected by the peaceful protest as the students have refused to attend classes.
