“SKM has been running this constituency, and we are confident that it will remain under our leadership," said Loknath Sharma.
Sikkim Cabinet Minister and the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha’s (SKM’s) incumbent MLA of the Geyzing-Bermoik assembly constituency, Loknath Sharma today exuded confidence that the seat is firmly with the SKM as there is no competition.
The Minister of Food Security and Agriculture in the Prem Singh Tamang-led Cabinet, Loknath Sharma’s statement underscores the stronghold that SKM maintains in the Geyzing-Bermoik, reflecting the party’s enduring support and voter confidence in the constituency.
Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Minister Sharma said, “Since the SKM took power in Sikkim five years ago, the constituency has seen substantial developments in terms of infrastructure, health care, social, and economic growth. SKM has been representing this constituency for the last 5 years and the party will continue to control it for the foreseeable future as well.”
“There is no competition in the Geyzing-Bermoik constituency. SKM has been running this constituency, and we are confident that it will remain under our leadership,” Loknath Sharma added.
Sharma said that in the 2019 assembly elections, he won the seat with a majority of 1,814 votes against SDF’s Laxuman Sharma and BJP’s Bhanu Bhakta Dahal and this time he will win the seat with a majority of around 3,000 votes.
Sharma is contesting against independent candidate Khusendra Sharma, who was recently expelled from the ruling SKM party.
Voting for the 32-member Sikkim Assembly and the lone Lok Sabha seat in the state will be held on April 19 and counting will take place on June 2.
