Congress MP Ulaka also questioned the silence of the Double Engine government on resolving the issues.

Congress MP and AICC Incharge of Sikkim, Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka has slammed the SKM Government for not being able to fulfil the Limboo-Tamang seat reservation in the State Assambly.

Speaking to the media in Gangtok, Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka said the SKM Government has failed to give justice to the Limboo Tamang communities of Sikkim.

He raised concerns over the delay in the reservation of seats for the LT community in the state assembly.
Earlier, on December 14, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang declared that the state government will pass a resolution titled ‘Limboo-Tamang Tribal Seat Reservation’ in the upcoming Sikkim Legislative Assembly session. The announcement was made during the state-level celebration of ‘Chasok Tongnam’, the harvest festival of the Limboo community, where the organizing committee reiterated their demand for the reservation.

The Chief Minister informed that while a resolution on the matter was already passed in 2003, the issue remains unresolved to date. He emphasized that the upcoming resolution will specifically focus on the Limboo-Tamang Seat Reservation and will be forwarded to the Central Government for approval.

He also questioned the silence of the Double Engine government on resolving the issues.

The Congress MP further stated that his party would raise issues such as the financial irregularities in the Power Department mentioned in the CAG report and the sale of shares of Sikkim Urja in Parliament.

Additionally, he further questioned the government’s silence about the ongoing discussions on the Darjeeling-Sikkim merger and demanded clarification on the matter.
