The fund approved is expected to benefit about 80,000 across the state, providing much-needed relief and support.

Within hours of being sworn in as Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh for the third consecutive term, Pema Khandu today signed the first file approving the release of fund to the tune of Rs 100 crore under the Chief Minister’s Social Security Scheme (CMSSS) aimed at improving the quality of life of people above 60 years of age, widows, and Divyangjans (persons with disabilities) in the state.

The fund approved is expected to benefit about 80,000 people across the state, providing much-needed relief and support.

It will help enhance the quality of life and provide a dignified way of living for these sections of society. This is also a testament to the compassionate and citizen-centric governance model of the state government, an official said.

The CMSSS, is a flagship scheme of the state government, that provides pensions to old-age persons above 60 years, widows and Divyangjans.

Signing the file, CM Khandu said that a scheme that benefits the vulnerable sections of society should be continued without hindrance.

“Considering the fact that preparation of the state budget has been delayed due to the general elections, the benefits under CMSSS must reach the needy beneficiaries at the earliest,” said CM Khandu.

The Khandu government launched the scheme in 2019.

During the last financial year, an amount of Rs 90 crores was allocated for the scheme benefiting 56030 old-age persons (above 60 years), 8782 widows and 3950 Divyangjan.
