Amid JN.1 spike in India, returnee from Delhi tests COVID-19 positive in Manipur’s Senapati

This has raised concern in the state as it is not known yet if the infection is linked to the novel JN.1 subvariant of the Omicron strain
Amid the concern of JN.1 coronavirus sub-variant across the country, a woman, who had returned to Manipur from Delhi tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.
As per inputs, the woman hails from Paomata, in Senapati district.
She had taken a flight from Delhi to Dimapur, Nagaland and reached her village in Senapati by bus.
This has raised concern in the state as it is not known yet if the infection is linked to the novel JN.1 subvariant of the Omicron strain.
The sample of the infected person has been sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune to verify whether the case is of JN.1 variant.
Meanwhile, India has recorded 692 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, while, the active caseload has increased by 4, reaching 4,097.
The official data stated that 6 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
