Repoll in 8 polling stations of Arunachal Pradesh underway

Re-polling began at 8 polling stations under 4 assembly segments in 4 districts of Arunachal Pradesh.

The re-voting began from 6am and will conclude at 2 pm.
The polling stations where fresh voting are underway are:

  1. Sario in Bameng constituency of East Kameng district
  2. Langte Loth in Nyapin constituency of Kurung district
  3. Dingser, Bogis Siyum, Jimbari and Lengi under Nacho constituency of Upper Subansiri district
  4. Bogne and Molom polling stations under Rumgong constituency of Siang district

Re-polling at these polling stations were ordered after the voting done on April 19 at these constituencies were declared void by the Election Commission of India (ECI) after reports of violence and booth snatching came to fore.

Voting for 50 Assembly constituencies and two Lok Sabha constituencies in Arunachal Pradesh were held on April 19 at 2,226 polling stations spread over the entire State.

The ruling BJP had already won 10 assembly seats unopposed.
While, 133 candidates are in fray for 50 Assembly seats, 14 candidates are in fray for the 2 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

8 Lakh 88 thousand 816 voters out of which 4,33,760 are male voters and 4,49,050 female voters have exercised their franchise to decide the fate of the total 147 candidates in fray.

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Arunachal Pradesh, Pawan Kumar Sain on April 20 said that the voter turnout for the parliamentary seats was recorded at 72.74% and for the Assembly seats stood at 76.44% as per initial estimates.

Arunachal East Parliamentary recorded a turnout of 76.37% and Arunachal West recorded a poll percentage of 70.11%. These numbers might change as the figures are still being collated.
