Asked about how UDP is planning to counter the major factor of urban apathy,Lyndoh said,”  We have already strategized the ways and means of encouraging voters to come forward and we also have kept in mind that people in the villages tend to be different by the thinking process than the people from the city of Shillong. Therefore, as a president of UDP in Shillong, I have been holding a number of consultative meetings to ensure that we encourage the rise of voters turning up for voting”.

Further adding on he said ” The major advantage this time is that we have all candidates who are well qualified, highly educated and in a position to understand law, governance and the constitutional matters. But the only drawback is that there has been atrend of violence which is something unheard of in the previous elections”

Meanwhile on asking about his response on replacing rat hole mining with scientific mining, Lyndoh said,” today the concern about balancing livelihood issues with ecology has been stressed upon by all policy makers, and we certainly have no other choice except to prefer scientific mining.
