NE CMs slam Sam Pitroda for his remark, “People in East look like Chinese”

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has condemned the remarks and vowed to take legal action against Pitroda
Sam Pitroda, a close aide of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, and a man closely identified as a key think tanker of the Congress party at one point in time, has raked up another controversy by trying to equate people in different parts of India with Chinese, Africans and Arabs going by their looks.
Speaking about how India is a shining example of democracy in the world, Pitroda said that the people in the Country have survived 75 years in a very happy environment where people could live together leaving a few fights here and there.
Pitroda, speaking to The Statesman, said that while people in the East look like Chinese, people in the West look like Arab, people in the North look like White and people in the South look like Africans, yet everyone is living united as brothers and sisters.
Meanwhile, Sam Pitroda’s comments have drawn flak from the BJP leaders, and Chief Minister of Northeastern states as well.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has lashed out at Pitroda for his comments and said that though he comes from the Northeast, he looks like an Indian.
“Sam bhai, I am from the North East and I look like an Indian. We are a diverse country – we may look different but we are all one. Hamare desh ke bare mein thoda to samajh lo!,” CM Sarma posted on X.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has also condemned the remarks and vowed to take legal action against Pitroda
“I condemn Congress leader, Sam Pitroida’s racist comment against the people of Northeast. The Congress has always tried to divide India with their Divide and Rule policy. But they must know that NE has been a part of India and will always be. Such a mockery in the India’s diversity is highly unacceptable @INCIndia and @sampitroda must publicly apologize,” CM N Biren Singh posted on X.
Just last month, Pitroda had stirred a huge controversy with his comments on inheritance tax that snowballed into a big political debate putting Congress in a very tight spot.
