After Pahalgam Bloodshed, Angry Silchar Citizens Urge Modi Govt for Swift Surgical Strike

For Silchar-based professor Debashish Bhattacharjee, his wife and son, it was back from the jaws of death, literally.
Following yesterday’s horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 tourists including an Indian Air Force Corporal from Arunachal Pradesh and several foreigners, a strong wave of anger and sorrow has gripped Silchar in Assam. Locals are demanding immediate retaliation, calling on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to launch a surgical strike against those responsible for the brutal killings.
“Enough is enough. We can’t tolerate this anymore,” said a local resident. Another said similar sentiments, urging the government to involve ex-servicemen if needed. “We are ready to stand and fight for our country,” he said.
One emotionally charged resident said, “We are requesting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to launch an immediate surgical strike on those who attacked innocent civilians. Even ex-servicemen are ready to help, and they have no hesitation to come forward if necessary. This incident has deeply hurt us all. Zero tolerance is absolutely necessary at such times. Please take action immediately.”
Another resident, still in shock, said, “We were shocked when we heard the news. There is no option other than a surgical strike. The government must ensure such incidents are never repeated.”
For Silchar-based professor Debashish Bhattacharjee, his wife and son, it was back from the jaws of death, literally. They tried to hide behind trees but in vain. The terrorists put a gun to Debashish Bhattacharjee’s head and asked him to recite the Kalma or the Muslim confession of faith. He complied and that save his and his family’s life. Bhattacharjee is the Head of Bengali Department, Assam University in Silchar.
