In what can be termed as a shocker, a physically challenged elderly woman from Nagaland was strip-searched by CISF personnel deployed at the Guwahati airport during a security check today.
The octogenarian, identified as Mhalo Kikon, who is the mother of Anthropologist from Nagaland, Dolly Kikon, had to face this harassment due to a titanium plate implanted in her hip for over 15 years now.
Soon after the incident, Doly Kikon expressed her helplessness over things through a tweet stating that her 80-year-old disabled mother was made to strip at the CISF security check at Guwahati airport as the security personnel wanted proof of the titanium hip implant.
Not only this, as per allegations, the CISF personnel also took away the complaint form from the granddaughter of the elderly woman who was traveling with her.
Meanwhile, after the issue was flagged, officials of the Guwahati Airport tendered an apology for the inconvenience caused to the elderly woman. As per inputs, officials at the Guwahati Airport have also assured to thoroughly investigate the matter.
Meanwhile, the DIG CISF also reached out to the family members over the phone and assured to investigate the matter. However, despite the assurances, there is growing widespread anger over the incident.
