NDPP leader and Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today accepted the letter of unconditional support from all opposition political parties, paving the way for a possible opposition-less government in the state for the third time in a row.
An Intimation has also been sent to Governor La Ganesan in this regard as well as the Assembly speaker.
Notably, the Chief Minister held a key meet with all the 60 legislators at his residence this evening. Talking to the legislators, CM Rio, while welcoming the decision taken by the elected representatives, said that it would be unwise to reject the letter of support from any political party.
Sources said that CM Rio also stressed on the fact that all parties need to come together in order to resolve few burning issues including Naga Political Issue, delimitation, and urban local bodies’ elections, among others.
The Nagaland Chief Minister, however, told legislators it may take some time to take a final decision, if any, as the BJP which is constituent of the NDPP-led government will need a formal clearance from central leaders for the formalization of an opposition-less government in Nagaland.
