Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah should invite NSCN IM and go minutely about the competencies of the Framework Agreement.

Rio informed that a resolution in this regard was clearly adopted by the Parliamentary Committee on Naga political issues held on July 16, following which it was discussed with Union home minister Amit Shah, NEDA convenor and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, besides the Government of India representative as well as interlocutor AK Mishra. Rio added that both the Centre and the NSCN-IM must discuss the competencies if there are any differences between the two sides about what has been agreed upon.

Rio further informed that following AK Mishra’s invitation to NSCN IM to resume talks, the NSCN IM and peace interlocutor AK Mishra had a virtual meeting. After this, the NSCN IM asked the interlocutor to issue a joint statement. However, Mishra rejected the same since the Framework agreement is very much alive and there was no need for any new statements.
