As part of preventive measures against spread of coronavirus, the Mizoram government has invoked the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 rolling out regulations that allow forced quarantine of people if the need for the same arises.
In this regard, the state government has issued a 10-point regulation called the Mizoram Epidemic (COVID-19) Regulations, 2020 which is applicable to the entire state.
The regulation makes reporting at screening points mandatory for those who have travelled to coronavirus affected states and countries in the last 28 days. Such persons will be mandatorily put under home quarantine.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the Council of ministers was also held to review measures taken up by the state government to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Mizoram health minister L Lalthangliana also informed that efforts are on to procure coronavirus test kits and additional thermal scanners.
