Manipur weightlifter Phamdom Ranibala breaks Mirabai’s snatch record, wins gold at 37th National Games

Mirabai Chanu set the previous record with a lift of 86 kg on March 29, 2023
Manipur weightlifter Phamdom Ranibala broke the national record by lifting 90 kg in the 55 kg category of women’s weightlifting at the 37th National Games being held in Goa and won gold medal.
She broke Mirabai Chanu’s (also from Manipur) record of 86 kg in the snatch and lifted 106 kg in the clean and jerk and 196 kg in total to win the gold medal.
Mirabai Chanu set the previous record with a lift of 86 kg on March 29, 2023.
The 37th National Games has began on October 25 and will continue till November 9, 2023.
A total of 560 athletes are representing Manipur in the ongoing 37th National Games in Goa, including 406 players (180 men and 226 women), 76 coaches, 56 team managers, and 22 MOA officials, among others.
The athletes from the state of Manipur are competing in 26 of the 48 disciplines.
Earlier, at the 36th National Games held in Gujarat last year, Manipur secured 9th position with a total of 50 medals, including 20 gold, 10 silver, and 20 bronze in 21 different sports.
