Manipur: Specially abled students, guardians stage sit in protest

Students along with guardians of Government Ideal Blind School and Government Deaf and Mute School of Imphal’s Takyelpat, staged a sit in demonstration on Tuesday in front of the school gate demanding the state government to fulfill various needs and requirement of the students and their institutes.

The students of both the institutions demanded the filling of vacant posts of both teaching and non-teaching staffs which have not been filled after the retirement of the teachers and staffs.

The protest further demanded payments of pending Diet allowance of an amount of Rs 1500 per month, which has not been paid since 2018 April and also to upgrade the institutions to secondary level, so that they can continue their studies after 10th standard.

The students and guardian also demanded setting up of one special school for Intellectual Disability.
