Manipur Police Arrests 6 Militants From Thoubal and Bishnupur in 2 Days, Grenades, Extortion Letters Seized

These individuals were found to be involved in abduction and extortion activities.
Continuing its crackdown on militants, Manipur Police have arrested a total of six cadres of Kangleipak Communist Party (Progressive Wing Group) and People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK-Pro) outfits for their involvement in extortion and abduction activities in Manipur.
The arrests were made during two separate raids in Bishnupur and Thoubal districts on November 1 and 2.
On November 2, police apprehended one cadre of the PREPAK-Pro from the Kumbi area of Bishnupur district. The individual, identified as Nongmaithem Gunamani, also known as Allu (32), was actively engaged in extortion. Authorities recovered one 36 HE hand grenade from his possession.
A day earlier, on November 1, during the operation in Charangpat Mayai Leikai, Thoubal district, five cadres of the KCP (PWG) were arrested. The arrested individuals are Thokchom Bikram Singh (29), Sinam Bijen Singh (37), Thangjam Deepak Singh (30), Lambamayum Naobi Singh (26), Huiningsumbam Ton Singh (21).
These individuals were found to be involved in abduction and extortion activities. Police also recovered one 36 HE hand grenade, two demand letters of KCP (PWG), 13 SIM cards, from them.
