Manipur BJP: The meeting addressed various issues, including public sentiments and concerns related to the exercise.

Manipur BJP convened a crucial meeting at its office in Imphal today, attended by 13 legislators, party leaders, and the State President, to deliberate on the ongoing Delimitation Exercise.

The meeting addressed various issues, including public sentiments and concerns related to the exercise.

Speaking to the media, MLA Kh. Robindro assured that indigenous people should not worry about the delimitation process in Manipur, as it will be delayed while proceeding in other states. He clarified that the exercise would only take place after rectifying inaccuracies in the electoral rolls.

Robindro stated, “The Supreme Court has directed that delimitation in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur be completed within three months. However, since the nationwide delimitation is scheduled for 2026, we urge the Centre to postpone it for now.”

MLA T Robindro Singh also reassured the public that there is no reason for apprehension regarding the delimitation process amid the current crisis, as the situation in Manipur remains manageable.

Meanwhile, MLA Govindas Konthoujam reiterated his support for public demands, emphasising the need for implementing the National Register of Citizens (NRC) before moving ahead with delimitation.

He stressed the importance of reviewing the 2001 Census data, stating, “When it comes to delimitation, we stand by the people’s will.”
