Manipur observes 91st death anniversary of Haipou Jadonang

The 91st death anniversary of Manipur’s freedom fighter, Haipou Jadonang was observed across the state today, people of Manipur especially the Zeliangrong and Kabui community paid homage to the Zeliangrong spiritual leader and freedom fighter.

While the main function was organized by the State Level Haipou Jadonang Death Anniversary Committee at Jadonang Park in Keishampat, Imphal, his death anniversary was also observed at several other places across the state.

In Imphal, community elders offered ‘holy wine’ to the almighty and to Haipou Jadonang. Speaking at the event, the secretary of the observation committee, Pantijai Newmai said the program is being held to remind the present and younger generations of the ideals and teachings of the leader.

He further added, that now that the centre has recognized Haipou Jadonang as a freedom fighter, he urged the government to include Jadonang’s struggle and history in the education curriculum to raise awareness.
