Manipur ADC Bill Row: ATSUM finance secy released on bail

Kakai Singsit has been vocal against the government over the non-tabling of the Hill Areas Committee recommended ADC Bill.
Finance Secretary of the All Tribal Students Union Manipur, Kakai Singsit, was arrested last night by Imphal West Police and has been released on bail.
Singsit, a resident at Motbung in Kangpokpi District was reportedly picked up from his home.
Singsit was arrested for allegedly promoting enmity between different groups and over statements made allegedly with the intent to cause fear or alarm to the public.
It needs to be mentioned here that Kakai Singsit has been vocal against the government over the non-tabling of the Hill Areas Committee recommended Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Council Bill 2021.
Earlier on Thursday, the All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM) said that it is open to talks and even a give and take with the state government on the ADC draft bill 2021 issue.
Speaking to Northeast Live Editor in Chief Wasbir Hussain on the show Northeast Tonight, general secretary of ATSUM Andria Sinruwng said that the union and its federating units are ready for talks as long as the dialogue is sincere.
Meanwhile, in a significant statement, BJP spokesman Johnson Elangbam said that the N Biren Singh-led state government is always open to discussion and hinted that CM N Biren Singh may directly take part in talks.
