Juvenile boy sexually assaults minor girl in Nagaland’s Zunheboto, arrested

A minor girl was sexually assaulted by a juvenile boy in Nagaland’s Zunheboto town. The boy is now in police custody.
The incident happened on Jun 8, when the victim was in her school premises, but it come to light on June 9, after her family registered a complaint with the police regarding the sexual assault, said SP Zunheboto Vishal in a press note dated June 10.
Soon after receiving the complaint, a case was registered at the Women Police Station under sections of ‘The protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Bill (POCSO) Act and an investigation into the matter was initiated.
Yesterday, as part of the investigation, school authorities, staff, and students were summoned to the Police Station and a Test Identification Parade (TIP) of some suspects by the victim and her parents was conducted.
TIP is a process laid down in section 9 of the Indian Evidence Act (IEA) 1872 and section 54 A of the Criminal Procedure Code 1973 that is used to identify the accused before the Judicial Magistrate.
During the TIP, the victim girl identified the accused boy, and based on the TIP report, Police took the identified suspect accused into custody.
Further investigation into the matter is underway to bring the case to an early logical conclusion and deliver justice to the victim.
