With Centre’s push to go ahead with the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, NDA ally JD(U) has made it clear that it will vote against the contentious bill in the Rajya Sabha in solidarity with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP).
The JD(U) will also send a high-level delegation for a two day visit in Assam from January 28 to 29 to meet the people and leaders opposed to the bill. The delegation to visit Assam will be led by JD(U) vice president Prashant Kishore.
In a high-level meeting chaired by party chief and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, it was decided that the party will oppose the Citizenship Bill in the Rajya Sabha and will back the AGP on the issue.
