Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has been acknowledged as one of the highest taxpayers to the Mizoram government, contributing approximately Rs 170 crore annually, according to Chief Minister Lalduhoma.
The Chief Minister made this announcement during the handover ceremony of a TATA school bus to Ephatha Special School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. The donation, part of IOCL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, aims to support children with hearing impairments by improving their accessibility to education.
CM praised IOCL’s commitment to Mizoram, highlighting its contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the provision of 21 dialysis machines and beds for Covid-infected patients. CM also acknowledged IOCL’s expansion of its bottling plant in Mualkhang, Kolasib District, a project backed by the state government. Additionally, he mentioned that efforts are underway to establish a new oil depot in the state, with two potential locations under review.
Saihmingthangi, President of the Ephatha Society, expressed gratitude to IOCL and the Chief Minister for their generous support. She noted that the new bus would greatly benefit students from different parts of the city. The registration fee for the bus will be covered by the Chief Minister’s office, while its insurance will be managed by Zothantluanga, a TATA dealer in Mizoram.
The event was attended by IOCL officials, Ephatha Society members, school staff, students, and representatives from the Chief Minister’s office.
