The Assam Police have arrested a student leader in connection with the May 15 Guwahati grenade attack carried out by the ULFA-Independent.
Guwahati police arrested Sanjib Talukdar, a former president of the Post Graduate Students’ Union (PGSU) of Gauhati University in connection with the case.
Talukdar is being accused of being in touch with ULFA-I chief Paresh Barua and had reportedly conducted a recce of various places with ULFA bomber Bijoy Axom, the prime accused who had lobbed the grenade near the Guwahati Central shopping mall in which 12 people were injured.
The student leader is the seventh accused to have been arrested in connection with the blast.
Police had earlier arrested television actress Jahnabi Saikia, pro-talks ULFA leader Pranamoy Rajguru, ULFA linkmen Indra Mohan Bora, surrendered ULFA leader Amrit Ballav Goswami and Bijoy Asom among others.
