Nambie Jessica Marak, the first runner-up of Masterchef India season 8, who is known for his culinary prowess, has now ventured into the world of politics.
She has joined the National People’s Party (NPP), in Meghalaya ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
She joined the party in the presence of Chief Minister and NPP national president Conrad Sangma at an election campaign of party candidate for Shillong Lok Sabha seat, Ampareen Lyngdoh at Athiabari in West Khasi Hills yesterday.
Welcoming her to the party, CM Sangma said that the entry of young people into politics is encouraging because they will effectively reflect the goals of the general public and offer fresh perspectives.
“At Athiabari in West Khasi Hills to seek blessing for our candidate Dr Ampareen Lyngdoh for the ensuing Lok Sabha election. We are delighted to have Nambie Marak join our party. It’s a positive sign to see young individuals stepping into politics, as they bring fresh perspectives and can effectively represent the aspirations of the people,” CM Conrad Sangma posted on X.

Nambie Jessica Marak hails from Upper Rangsa village of Meghalaya’s West Khasi Hills district. She is also known as TribalChef.
She won the position of the first runner-up of the MasterChef India season 8 in December last year.
Notably, she is the first woman from Meghalaya to participate in the biggest food reality show and finish as first runner-up.
She also runs “Eat Your Kappa,” a YouTube channel on Northeastern food and culture.
Kappa is a popular Garo dish, known for its unique flavours, where meat and vegetables are cooked with extracts of bamboo and tapioca.
