While the flood scenario in Assam seems to be on the path of improvement, a new cause concern that has gripped the people is rampant erosion caused by the rampaging waves of the rivers.

The latest victims of erosion have been the people of Bhelokar near Hajo. Rampant erosion by the Puthimari has already deprived as many as 300 families of their original homes.

The erosion also threatens the very existence of the landmark 150 year old Jame Masjid here. The local people have appealed to the local MLA to look into the matter.
