In one of the biggest drug busts in Mizoram, Assam Rifles personnel recovered a huge consignment of Methamphetamine and heroin worth Rs 87.84 crore in the Champhai district, near the India-Myanmar border on Tuesday.

A press statement released by Assam Rifles on Wednesday stated that the seizure included 2 lakh Methamphetamine tablets, with an estimated value of Rs 60 crore, and 3.978kg of heroin, valued at Rs 27.84 crore.

These substances were recovered along the Zokhawthar to Melbuk Road.

According to the statement, the drug traffickers employed Chinese-made Kenbo motorcycles to transport the contraband. The traffickers managed to escape. All the confiscated drugs have been handed over to the Zokhawthar police station.

This successful operation underscores the Assam Rifles’ ongoing efforts to combat the illegal drug trade along the border region, serving as a significant blow to drug trafficking activities in the area.
