Delhi-based senior Assamese journalist Kalyan Baruah succumbed to COVID-19 related complications on Saturday morning. Baruah, who worked with The Assam Tribune, as New Delhi Bureau Chief, died in a private hospital

Delhi-based senior Assamese journalist Kalyan Baruah succumbed to COVID-19 related complications on Saturday morning.

Baruah, who worked with The Assam Tribune, as New Delhi Bureau Chief, died in a private hospital around 8:40 am today after being on ventilation support for the past few days.

His death comes a day after his journalist wife Nilakshi Bhattacharya, also a journalist, died after battling with Covid.

The senior journalist, who originally hailed from Guwahati, had been associated with newspaper for the last 30 years. He leaves behind a daughter and a host of relatives and well wishers.

The Media fraternity and others have expressed grief over the untimely demise of the senior journalist. With his death, the number of journalists to have succumbed to Covid has touched the hundred mark.
