The crackdown on the betelnut smuggling mafia is being carried out on a war footing in Silchar by the Cachar Police. As many as 28 smuggling warehouses were sealed on Tuesday, and over 23 quintals of Burmese betelnuts have been seized.

In the raid led by Cachar SP Ramandeep Kaur herself, as many as five smugglers, all from Cachar, were apprehended.

Notable smugglers, including Dipankar Dev and his son Debopriyo Dev, as well as high-level mafia members Kartik Paul and Faizuddin Laskar, were also apprehended by Cachar Police.

Moreover, the residences of wanted smugglers, ft. Hussain and Zakir, were also sealed by Cachar police.
