Tension prevails in Newton and Dharmapur village areas under Miao sub division in eastern Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district, following the obstruction of boundary demarcation work by Chakma villagers which was being carried out by the civil administration.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Miao, Sunny K. Singh, informed your channel, North East Live, that the Chakma villagers were illegally collecting stone boulders from the rivulet due to which the river might change its course in the future and cause massive erosion in the locality during the rainy season.

Singh informed that the people from the administration had erected four pillars and were going to erect the fifth pillar when they were faced with stiff opposition from the Chakma villagers, who were armed with stones and sharp weapons, among others.
Since the administration did not provide an adequate number of security forces, the team retreated.
