Children in the age group of 15 and 18 would be able to register themselves for vaccination on the CoWIN platform from January 1, 2022. This has been informed by CoWIN platform chief Dr. RS Sharma.

He said that an additional school ID card section for registration has been included in the platform as some children might not have Aadhaar or other identity cards.

It may be mentioned here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday had announced vaccinations for 15 to 18-year-olds from January 3 onwards.

He also said that healthcare and frontline workers will be provided with “precautionary doses” and people above 60 years of age who have co-morbidities can opt for a booster dose, on a doctor’s recommendation, from January 10, 2022.
