First Published: 3rd March, 2024 20:26 IST

The three abducted persons are Lekhok Bora, Gyan Bahadur Thapa and Chandan Narzary.

It’s been 15 days since 3 of the 10 abducted coal miners kidnapped from a remote location along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border remain untraced.

The workers were reportedly abducted by a heavily armed group of militants of Ulfa-Independent and NSCN (K-YA) in the early hours of February 18 from an illegal coal mine in Phinbiro village under Manmao police station in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

The three abducted persons are Lekhok Bora, Gyan Bahadur Thapa and Chandan Narzary.

Speaking to Northeast Live, Gyan Thapa’s father said, “It’s been 15 days still we don’t have any idea where Gyan is. Kindly let him free. If he has done anything wrong, I seek forgiveness.”

Relatives, neighbours, and residents from nearby are pleading for their safe return.

The Assam Police along with the Arunachal Pradesh Police and the Army has been carrying out massive search and rescue operation, ever since the abduction happened, to find out the miners.

The trio were abducted from the mining site known as No.14 mine.

Although 7 of them were released later by the abductors, the whereabouts of the other 3 still remain unknown.

Earlier, Kirli Padu, SP, Changlang confirmed that despite a massive search operation being carried out by the security forces there is absolutely no news on the three abducted persons.
