Like every year, this year too the Chakma community of Tripura observed Black day in Agartala, protesting against the inclusion of their original homeland in the Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bangladesh way back in 1947.
Over 2.5 lakh Chakmas reside in Tripura, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh. The protest rally was jointly organized by Tripura wing of the Chakma National Council of India and Tripura Chakma Students’ Association.
