President Kovind to inaugurate 400th Birth Anniversary celebration of Lachit Borphukan

President of India, Ram Nath Kovind will be arriving in Assam on a three-day visit on February 25. This was confirmed by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Briefing media after a cabinet meeting held on Sunday, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that President Ram Nath Kovind will launch the year-long celebrations to mark the 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Borphukan at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati.

Besides, President Ram Nath Kovind will lay the base for a memorial of Alaboi War to be set up at Dadara in Kamrup district.

The President of India will also lay the foundation stone for the reconstruction of Lachit Borphukan maidam in Jorhat, said CM Sarma.

On February 26, President Ram Nath Kovind will attend the convocation of Tezpur University.

On the evening of February 26, the President of India will visit Kaziranga National Park and take a jeep safari in the World Heritage site.

He will also go over the various initiatives taken by the Assam government to conserve Kaziranga, such as the elevated corridor and measures to preserve Kaziranga’s history.

On February 27, President Ram Nath Kovind will attend key events and will return to New Delhi in the evening.
