Manipur Assembly Speaker Th Satyabrata Singh had met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi a few days ago and is likely to meet him again soon.

Political circles in Manipur are rife with speculations that the Congress and the NPP, besides some other legislators, may bring in a no confidence motion against the Biren Singh government in the ensuing State Assembly session slated within less than two weeks from now.

Manipur Assembly Speaker Th Satyabrata Singh had met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi a few days ago and is likely to meet him again soon. What transpired in the meeting is not known but it is likely the pros and cons of any possible move to oust Biren Singh may have been discussed.

The opposition aside, some ruling BJP legislators too have been waiting in the wings for long now to see a leadership change in the state, particularly since the start of the ethnic violence in the state.

More than 20 months after the violence began on May 2, 2023, Manipur still is not peaceful, with the ten Kuki Zo legislators unable to come to the Valley to attend the Assembly sessions.

BJP Northeast in-charge Sambit Patra is likely to arrive in Imphal soon to take stock of the situation.
