Acting on specific inputs, the Assam Rifles apprehended a gold smuggler and recovered 47 gold biscuits during a search at Khudengthabi checkpost in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district.
The gold smuggler has been identified as Jamthoung Touthang, who is a resident of border town Moreh. Besides, Rs 2.95 crore were also recovered from his possession.
The arrested person along with the recovered gold biscuits was handed over to Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Imphal for further investigation.
