Assam Rifles apprehend NSCN (IM) OGW in Arunachal Pradesh

The Changlang Battalion of the Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General of Assam Rifles (IGAR) (North), in a joint operation with Arunachal police, successfully apprehended an active over ground worker (OWG) of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim – Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) at Tizu river bridge in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday.
The troops of Assam Rifles along with Arunachal Pradesh police, based on specific inputs, launched an operation which led to the apprehension of the active over ground worker.
The apprehended OGW was later handed over to Changlang Police for further investigation.
Last month, security forces in Arunachal Pradesh apprehended NSCN-IM cadres during an operation in Longding district.
Based on inputs, a joint team of Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh police launched an operation in the border village of Chop in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh.
During the operation, joint team of security forces apprehended one hardcore insurgent and one over ground worker of the NSCN (IM) group.
The apprehended cadres were identified as Self Styled Lance Corporal Namleuku Zeme, resident of Mpai, Peren, Nagaland and over ground worker is Langang Gangsa, resident of Ranapio of Chop village, Arunachal Pradesh.
The NSCN (IM) has been a cause of concern, as it has been attempting to carry out operations against the people in the Tirap, Changlang and Longding (TCL) region from across the international border.
