Security forces in a joint operation apprehended Self-Styled Corporal, Denial Lotha, a key member of the NSCN-U, from the outskirts of Namrup town in Assam on Sunday.
The cadre was actively involved in Recruitment and Extortion activities of the outfit and operated in and around the Arunachal-Nagaland border areas. Weapons and live ammunition were also recovered from the cadre.
The operation was based on confirmed input regarding the move of the individual towards Dilli Ghat via Deomali for collection of extortion money or recruiting new cadres, thus falling into the trap of security forces on Sunday.
It needs to be mentioned here that Self Styled Corporal was also a key member of the hit team of Self-Styled Lieutenant Colonel Machan of NSCN-U who is operating in the general area of Longding.
The apprehended insurgent and recovered items were later handed over to the Namrup Police for further investigation.
