The revised fees are in line with the provisions of Section 4 of the Assam Right to Public Services (Amendment) Act, 2019
The Assam Government has announced an updated tax policy, introducing revised fees for a range of events and functions including organising Bihu functions and political rallies.
According to the official notice, individuals are now required to pay a fee of Rs 300 to obtain permission to organise cultural processions, ceremonies, and events, including Bihu functions.
The updated fee structure extends to various other activities as well. Organising political rallies, events, and meetings, as well as all types of sports events will now incur a fee of Rs 2,000.
A sum of Rs 500 has to be paid for obtaining permission to organise street plays, awareness rallies, and similar events.
Those seeking to host trade fairs, food fairs, and expos will be required to pay Rs 5,000 for the necessary permissions.
In another change, individuals looking to open petrol pumps and gas agencies will have to pay Rs 10,000. Verification processes for workers involved in construction and for rented accommodation and PG accommodations now come with fees starting from Rs 300.
Moreover, police clearance for commercial construction within Guwahati city’s GMDA area will cost Rs 50,000, while police clearance for commercial construction in the rest of the state will be charged at Rs 25,000.
The Governor of Assam has implemented these modifications in response to the fees imposed on users for the services provided by the Assam Police Citizens Service Portal, also known as Assam Police Sewa Setu.
The revised fees align with the provisions of Section 4 of the Assam Right to Public Services (Amendment) Act, 2019. This legislation forms the basis for the updated tax and fee system, outlining the financial requirements for individuals seeking authorization for various services.
