Tuliram Ronghang also posted on X about his meeting with Gadkari, where he presented a memorandum highlighting key road projects for Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong. He stressed the need for timely sanctions and funding to improve connectivity, security, and overall development in the region.

“I had the honour of presenting a memorandum to Shri Nitin Gadkari Ji, Hon’ble Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, to discuss crucial infrastructure and development projects for Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong. The memorandum highlighted ongoing commitments and requests for timely sanctions and funding to support vital road projects that will significantly improve connectivity, security, and overall development in the region,” Ronghang wrote.

Key projects discussed include the construction of lifeline roads to open up remote hill areas and enhance access to the mainstream:

Dharamtul to Panimur (NH-627): This road will provide a crucial link to the region. A joint meeting held on January 7, 2025, finalized the most feasible alignment for the project, passing through Amri, Amtereng, Baithalangso, Kheroni, and Panimur. This road is expected to significantly improve connectivity in the area.

Manja to Lumding via Diphu (NH-329): The necessary bid documents for this important road have been prepared. Work allotment is expected to begin in March 2025. Once completed, this road will connect key locations and strengthen transportation in the region.

Other major projects: The memorandum also includes the construction of two additional major roads — a four-lane all-weather road through Dhansiri for better access to Dimapur Airport and a highway connecting Diphu to West Karbi Anglong’s Meghalaya border via Hamren.

Ronghang stressed the importance of these projects in preventing insurgency, improving security, and fostering sustainable development in the region. He thanked Gadkari for the progress made so far and highlighted the need for continued support to ensure the timely completion of these initiatives.

“I expressed gratitude for the progress made so far and emphasized the importance of securing funding and support for these vital projects. Timely completion of these initiatives will ensure better livelihoods, improved security, and enhanced development for the people of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong,” Ronghang added.
