Assam flood situation worsens: 1 dead, Nearly 2 lakh people affected in 17 dists

The number of affected people more than doubled from 45,354 people to close to 2 lakh and number of affected districts from 11 to 17 in just last 24 hours

The flood situation in Assam has worsened further in the last 24 hours. One person died and the number of affected people jumped sharply from 45,354 to 1, 90, 675 persons.

The number of districts affected by the flood waters went up to 17 from 11 between yesterday and today.

As per latest data released by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) this evening, the worst affected districts are- Biswanath, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, Tamulpur, Udalguri.

The rivers flowing above the danger mark are –
Brahmaputra in Dibrugarh, Dhubri, Tezpur, and Nimati Ghat.
Beki in Road Bridge and Jia-Bharali in Nt Road Crossing.
Disang in Nanglamuraghat
Dikhou in Sivasagar
Subansiri in Badatighat
