According to latest reports, the following Indian National Congress candidates has emerged victorious in the Assam assembly elections. The Congress has secured 28 seats so far, as per latest trends

According to latest reports, the following Indian National Congress candidates has emerged victorious in the Assam assembly elections.

The Congress has secured 28 seats so far, as per latest trends provided by the Election Commission website.

Here's the list of candidates:
  • Rakibul Hussain – Samaguri
  • Wazed Ali Choudhury – South Salmara
  • Rupjyoti Kurmi – Mariani
  • Rekibuddin Ahmed – Chhaygaon
  • Nandita Das – Boko
  • Sushanta Borgohain – Thowra

On the other hand, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president and self-proclaimed chief ministerial candidate of grand alliance Ripun Bora faced a humiliating defeat in Gohpur.

Utpal Bora of BJP defeated the top Congress leader with a margin of 14,118 votes.
