Alarming spike in Covid cases in Assam and Mizoram

Assam‘s COVID tally has shot further up with a total of 3,274 fresh cases reported today. Of these, 1138 cases have been reported from the Kamrup Metropolitan district.

The state also reported four COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours. Notably, the COVID positivity rate now stands at 6.56 percent. On the other hand, Assam’s recovery rate currently stands at 96.96 percent.

Meanwhile, Mizoram’s COVID-19 tally rose to 1,49,492 on Thursday as 1,054 more people tested positive for the infection in the last 24 hours. The COVID-19 death toll in the state remained at 564.

The single-day positivity rate is 15.09 per cent as the fresh cases were detected from 6,984 samples. Of the new patients, 711 patients have developed symptoms of COVID-19.

The state now has 7,397 active COVID-19 cases, while 1, 41,531 people have recovered from the infection, including 296 on Wednesday.
