Two road construction workers who were abducted from Tenyak village in Eastern Arunachal Pradesh’s Longding district on May 10 were released by their abductors on Monday night.
Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, B Tangjang, DSP of Longding informed that the two abducted persons, namely, Bikash Rava and Phukhi Konyak, both of whom are JCB drivers, were abducted from their worksite camp by a group of NSCN (K-YA) and were taken to the outfit’s camp in Myanmar.
He also added that the contractor who hails from Nagaland is carrying out the construction of a Arunachal-Nagaland inter state border road with a budget of 36 crores.
It has been learnt that the militants had demanded Rs 50 lakhs for the release of the two workers.
However, it is not confirmed whether any ransom money was paid to secure the release of the duo.
