Amid the worsening flood situation in Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday convened a meeting via video conference from Tawang to review the flood situation across the state.

CM Khandu directed all departments to remain vigilant and proactive until September, given the unpredictable monsoon season.

Taking to X, CM Khandu wrote, “Today, I chaired a review meeting on disaster situation in Arunachal Pradesh via video conference from Tawang. Joining me online from Itanagar were Advisor to Hon Minister of Disaster Management, Shri Nakap Nalo Ji, and Chief Secretary Dharmendra.”

“We closely reviewed the damages incurred across the state, focusing on state and national highways, roads, drinking water supply, power infrastructure, food and medicine availability, and personal property,” Khandu added.

“I directed all departments to remain vigilant and proactive until September, given the unpredictable monsoon season. Our teams must be ready to respond to any eventuality, ensuring even unaffected areas are prepared for potential impacts. We will work tirelessly to guarantee the safety and well-being of our people during these challenging times”, he further added.

Meanwhile, the flood situation remained unchanged on Thursday, as major rivers continued to surge above the danger mark.

Landslides triggered by rain have snapped surface communication in at least seven districts of Arunachal Pradesh.

The districts affected by landslides are Siang, East Siang, Upper Siang, West Siang, Shi Yomi, Leparada and Upper Subansiri.

A portion of the NH-13 along the Pasighat-Pangin-Aalo road has been blocked following a landslide today morning. A huge boulder has completely blocked the road in between Lokpeng and Pangin tri-junction in Siang district. The Nigmoi-Aalo bypass road has also been blocked due to landslides in several locations.
