The All Naga Students Association Manipur (ANSAM) has decided not to renew its agitation but has warned to resume the same if their demands are not met.

ANSAM said in a statement that they in a meeting, have decided not to resume their agitation on the request of the Naga Legislature Forum on behalf of the state government.

The government has sought some time to fulfil the “legitimate demands” of the association including declaration of result of 190 Assistant Professors (145+45 ST special drive) posts and resuming mobile internet services in all the areas where there is no violence anymore.

ANSAM was to resume its agitation from 27 November, 2023.

In a press release issued from the Information and Publicity Wing of ANSAM it stated that it would acknowledge the initiatives of the state government in partial opening of the internet connectivity in few parts of the district headquarter not affected by violence.

ANSAM, however, warned that if their demands were not fulfilled at the earliest, they would begin their agitation and “the Naga Legislature Forum and the state government shall be held responsible for all failure and degradation of the education sector especially in the hills station of Manipur.”

The Association also said that it would no longer tolerate the “lackadaisical attitude of government towards the educational institutions in the hills.”
