The BJP is inching towards forming the government in almost all the three Northeastern States where elections were held, exit polls stated.
While exit polls predicted a landslide victory for the BJP-IPFT combine in Tripura, the ruling Manik Sarkar-led Left Front government could see its tally come down to around 10 to 20 seats from the current 50 it enjoys in the State assembly.
While the JanKiBaat-NewsX exit poll predicted that the BJP-IPFT alliance in Tripura will win 35-45 seats, an exit poll by AxisMyIndia predicted anything between 44 and 50 seats for the combine.
According to JanKiBaat-NewsX, the ruling Left front is likely to get 14-23 seats with vote share of 45-46 per cent. AxisMyIndia poll predicts the Left to win 9-15 seats with a vote share of 40 per cent in Tripura.
Meanwhile in Nagaland, the exit polls also predicted that the BJP-NDPP alliance will form the government in the state while in Meghalaya it could win more 10 or more seats while the NPP, an ally of the Northeast Democratic Alliance, will emerge as the single largest party. The Congress could lose another State with the exit polls predicting the Congress to come second.
