Tripura polls tomorrow: CEO Kiran Gitte says,”It is a D-Day for us”

Everything is in place for the Tripura assembly elections tomorrow.

Tripura Chief Electoral Officer, Kiran Gitte who spoke exclusively to Northeast Live after reviewing the last minute preparations is hopeful of a free and fair elections with a high voter turnout.

Gitte said,”Things are well planned well managed, logistics, personnel their training their skill the scrutiny by the observers, the area deployment, awarenee amonst the voters, the code of conduct for the officers for the polling parties everything has fallen in line.”

The Tripura CEO further said,”Not only the security but the entire preparation has been flawless. It will be without any error and my biggest challenge tomorrow is to complete the 90% voting within the timeframe and if it exceeds by 4 PM, than we have to give them (voters) tokens and complete it as soon as possible and do it in a manner that the voters will feel very convenient and easy to vote. Actually on the ground we are seeing lots of normalcy and lot of enthusiasm among the voters. Let us see tomorrow. It is a D-Day for us.”

The Tripura CEO infact believes that the elections tomorrow will set a new benchmark and said,”I am very hopeful and confident that tomorrow’s election will set a new record and a new tradition for Tripura for a peaceful election and a record breaking election in terms of voter turnout.”

Kiran Gitte also urged Northeast Live saying,”So, I request You to cover our women managed, youth managed, person with disability managed and model polling station which will show to the entire country and the world, what is Tripura. It’s culture and traditions will be reflected in the model polling stations and enthusiasm of the voters.”

As many as fate of 259 candidates will be sealed in the race to the 60-member assembly, with around 28.13 lakh voters expected to exercise their franchise. The voting will take place in 3,328 polling booths, of which 1,100 are sensitive and 28 critical. Voting will begin at 7AM and is scheduled to conclude at 4PM.
