Assam Chief Minister and NEDA Convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma during his campaign trail at Sonapura in poll bound Tripura, launched a scathing attack on the Congress-CPI (M) alliance.

Addressing a massive gathering of BJP supporters, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “When I reached Agartala, I was asked,”Will the BJP be able to form the government, since the Congress and the CPI-M have joined hands? I asked them, in India is the CPI-M in power, or is there Congress in any of the Northeastern states? They said ‘No’. What will happen if we add 0+0?”

Escalating his attack, the dynamic BJP leader asked all those present in the rally if they had ever received any benefits prior to the Narendra Modi regime as the Prime Minister.

Himanta Biswa Sarma asked,”For how many years did the CPI-M rule? The Congress might have also ruled for 5 to 10 years. Keep this 25 years on one side and the other 5 years on the other side. Did you (people) receive free rice under the CPI-M rule? They ruled for 25 years but have you received 25 kg rice in those years?

Sarma in a clear and strong message said that times have now changed as he referred to the “Double Engine Government.”

He said,”since Narendra Modi is in Delhi and here (Tripura) we also have a Modi government in Tripura. What do you have to say about this?”

Sarma while reiterating the BJP’s committment for the welfare of everyone said, “We term it as Double Engine government. If there is one engine, it (train) moves at 60 kmph, and when there is double engine it moves at 120 kmph. But when in that train if there is an engine like Modi, it will move at 200 kmph.”
