Nagaland BJP President and state BJP president Temjen Imna Along wins Alongtaki seat

Hours before emerging victorious after trailing in the initial rounds, the BJP minister shared a humourous post saying, "Har ke jeet ne wale ko… kehte hain!

Nagaland BJP President and Minister of Higher Education and Tribal Affairs and social media sensation, Temjen Iman Along won the 30 Alongtaki Assembly seat with a margin of 3748 votes defeating JD(U) candidate J. Lanu Longchar in the Nagaland Assembly elections held on February 27.

Minister Temjen Imna Along has secured a total of 9274 votes while J. Lanu Longchar managed to secure 5526 votes.

It may be mentioned here that there was a neck-to-neck fight between minister Imna Along and Lanu Longchar with the BJP president trailing against Longchar in the initial rounds.

Meanwhile, hours before emerging victorious after trailing in the initial rounds the BJP leader known for his witty and humorous tweets shared a post saying, “Har ke jeet ne wale ko …..kehte hain!(the one who wins after losing is called…..)

Temjen Imna Along has been the state BJP president since January 15, 2020.

This is his second consecutive win for Along from the Alongtaki seat. In 2018, Along defeated Benjongliba Aier of the Naga People’s Front with a margin of a little over 900 votes.

Along, who often shares posts about his happy state as a bachelor, did his pre-university in commerce from City College of Arts and Commerce Dimapur in 1999.

Along’s brother, Tinu Akum Longkumer is in the Naga regiment of the Indian Army.
Along won the International Award in 2016 for “Leadership Excellence in Social Entrepreneurship” at the 7th edition of Middle East Business Leadership Award at London.
Besides being a BJP minister Temjen Imna Along is a businessman. He is the Chairman & MD of REM Group Nagaland.
There were a total of 15, 909 electors in Alongtaki constituency.
